Genevieve Hathaway is photographer and filmmaker, telling stories that have a positive impact, change perspectives and instill hope.

Client work includes: the Seattle Opera, Seattle International Foundation, GAdventures Tours, the Planeterra Foundation, National Geographic Traveller India, The Seattle Times,   EcoTraveller Guides, ArchaeoAdventure Tours, GlobalWA, Aspect:Ratio, and the Outdoor Women’s Alliance. Genevieve has also partnered with the Jordan Tourism Board North America to produce photo and video content to promote travel to Jordan.

Her personal work focuses on telling the stories of women changemakers, the positive impact of ecotourism, and the importance of nature conservation. Her photographs and visual storytelling reflects her belief in changing perspectives, sharing untold stories, and sharing positive solutions to many of the world's most dire problems. 

Genevieve's first career was as an Osteoarchaeologist, specializing in Egyptology and Human Remains in archaeological sites. In 2010, she followed her love for mountaineering and climbing, founding Alpine Athena, the first North American woman’s climbing magazine. Two years later, she made the decision to become a full-time photographer. Genevieve's personal projects have taken her across the Middle East and North Africa, Pakistan, Morocco and Peru. Her work has been exhibited in Seattle. Genevieve is a recipient of the City of Seattle's SmArtVentures Grant, which supported the exhibition of her War on Walls photography project.

As a lecturer and educator, she has spoken  at and led workshops for variety of organizations and institutions, including ITB Berlin, Boeing, Adventure Travel Trade Association's AdventureNext Near East conference in Jordan, Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, Brown University, the American Research Center in Egypt, Oregon State University, World Affairs Council, and University of Washington. Topics for Genevieve's workshops, seminars, and panels have included visual storytelling, video marketing, women in travel and entrepreneurship, documenting the Arab Spring street art, documenting women's empowerment through adventure sports and adventure travel, as well as travel seminars on travel in the Middle East and North Africa.
